Cultural events in Yanqing to mark Dragon Boat Festival

Northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district launched a cultural festival on June 22 to embrace the Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival in Beijing Expo Park, venue of the 2019 International Horticultural Expo. 

The festival celebration featured family camping, dragon boat racing and Dragon Boat Festival folk customs experiencing, which were held in Yanqing’s scenic spots including Beijing Expo Park, the Wild Duck Lake and the Longqing Gorge scenic area.

Tourists in Yanqing can experience the traditional Chinese culture by making Zongzi (a traditional Chinese food made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves) and XiangCultural events in Yanqing to mark Dragon Boat Festival

bao, or perfume sachets, making papercuts and cook local food.

From June 22 to 23, altogether 16 teams from Yanqing will take part in dragon boat racing on the Guihe River in Yanqing. The dragon boat race has become one of the most important leisure sports during the festival.
